June Mountain
June Mountain’s legendary status began in the early 90’s with the OP Pro and has continued throughout the years with the Grenade Games, gigantic hip airs of Mack Dawg’s From ____ With Love, and Ms. Superpark. Its rich history could never be guessed from the small, half full parking lot and empty lift lines that await visitors every day. Most often used as an escape from Mammoth‘s crowds, June is the place to come for untracked runs and a mellow atmosphere.

The Local’s POV:
On a powder day, hit up the face and other runs directly under the first lift (J1). These are sure to be steep and deep all day long. Days after a powder day, the trees off J6 will still offer plenty of fluffy turns. For the adventurous type, there is tons of out-of-bounds riding available. If you have a shovel, probe, transceiver, and local who knows were to go, take a hike off J7 to the Negatives, just west of the resort. You can also drop out-of-bounds to the east off J6 and ride right down to the town of June Lake and grab a beer at the Tiger bar.
For those sunny California days, there are also plenty of park options. Mambo offers small jumps and mini jibs, good for beginners. Right next to Mambo lays June’s half pipe, which offers fresh cut walls all day long. The June’s Unbound park, off of J7, has a little bit of everything. Propane tanks, rails, boxes, and 20-45ft jumps litter the top to bottom run.
Testimonial:
“I really like the flow and options in the June park. You can jib and jump and jib, then jump again. It’s tight shit!” -Travis Robison
