Atmosphere Takes Care of Business
Chris Prosser is a Portland legend, nay, and enigma. Whatever you want to call him, he’s taken his clothing company, Atmosphere, from nothing to a legitimate clothing brand in just a few short years. The latest addition to the Atmosphere line up is a small retail space adjacent to its Portland Offices.
Prosser hosted a small gathering to celebrate the opening a few weeks back, and also let me come check out Atmosphere headquarters. The hard-to-find retail space is located above an antiques store on SE 9th and Hawthorne, and is the best place to pick up Atmosphere gear. Chris also had a line of custom cruiser skateboards made, which are only available there.
At the opening some of Portland’s finest showed up, including Grenade heavyweights Kevin Cassilo and Brian Regis. Unfortunately, Danny Kass could not make it due to prior commitments. Everyone drank PBR’s from the sink and admired the shiny skate decks that adorned one wall.
Beyond the party, one of the doors in small shop lead back to the offices where Chris and his crew do everything from design and sticker production, to sales and shipping. It’s a small company with a laid back atmosphere (ha!) and the crew can be found toiling away weekdays from about 10-7. Here are a few pictures which may give you a better idea of what goes on in the day to day at Atmosphere.

This is where people chill…

Prosser’s GF is sort of a prude.

Oh, you are not supposed to see the design department. Top secret stuff here, people.

Chris takes a quick outdoor skate break. His boss is pretty mellow.

[…] I’ve been scrambling to catch up. I posted a blog on Fuel, a little story about the Atmosphere gathering before I left on Future, and of course a bunch of stuff on Alliancewakeskate.com, including this […]
Fuck Yeah!
Hell yeah Prosser, looks sick kid! Congrats…

Keep killing it Chris. Just a dream back a Windell’s, now a reality. RK
